Research Assistant at University of Oxford

The Transport Studies Unit (TSU) at the University of Oxford is recruiting a Research Assistant to work on two Innovate UK grants – Park and Charge (PNC) and Vehicle to Grid Oxford (V2GO). The position is full-time for 18 months, and available from 1 September 2019.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work on two Innovate UK grants – Park and Charge (PNC) and Vehicle to Grid Oxford (V2GO) – at the Transport Studies Unit (TSU) at the University of Oxford.

You will join two industry led consortia with the University of Oxford as one of the partners. The PNC project will trial a technological and business model design that provides overnight charging in car parks to electric vehicle users without off-street charging possibilities, while V2GO is a large-scale trial project of vehicle-to-grid technologies for vehicle fleets in and around Oxfordshire. The postholder will work on monitoring and evaluation in both projects. The post provides the opportunity to participate in practical innovation projects, while performing rigorous academic research.

The main duties include collecting, preparing and analysis quantitative data about electric vehicle adoption, use and charging as well as the use and experience of vehicle to grid technologies. Conducting in-depth interviews may also part of the role. You will also contribute to project-related and TSU meetings and events.

The successful candidate must have an MSc in geography, transport or urban planning, innovation studies or cognate fields, together with experience that is relevant to the role. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge with regard to electric mobility to contribute to the PNC and V2GO projects and experience in collecting quantitative data using (online) surveys. You will also have experience in developing and conducting quantitative data analysis using specialised software and/or geographical information systems (GIS).

This position is available from 1 September 2019.
