POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
Area of Research: Transportation Engineering – Agent-Based Modelling
Overview of the Position:
You will be joining the LEMA research group of the University of Liège, co-directed by Professors Mario Cools, Sigrid Reiter and Jacques Teller, as a main contributor to the FEDER project "Wal-e-Cities", which aims at the development of Smart Cities in the Walloon region of Belgium, focusing on the use of innovative (automated) data collection systems as a backbone to support this development. The successful candidate will perform research on the development of a traffic demonstrator, i.e. an agent-based travel demand framework, which explicitly takes into account the accumulation of data through means of ubiquitous sensor networks.
We are seeking a single candidate for a 3-year term (starting with a 1-year contract and upon positive evaluation extended with a further 2-year contract). The postdoctoral fellow will have office space in the Sart-Tilman campus of the University of Liège.
Description of Duties:
The successful candidate will conduct research in the aforementioned "Wal-e-Cities"- project, will be author on journal articles and conference presentations, and coordinate interactions between diverse project team members, and assure the administrative reporting of the project.
Required qualifications:
- PhD degree in computer sciences, engineering, planning or related field;
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis, GIS and network analysis, and travel behaviour modelling;
- Excellent programming skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication in English;
- Excellent personal time management, project management and organizational skills.
