2 Research Associate positions TUM

The Chair of Urban Structure and Transport Planning, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering, Focus Area Mobility & Transportation Systems offers 2 Research Associate positions of up to 100% each, starting in January 2020.

We are experts in the interactions of transport supply, spatial structure and mobility behaviour. Our work focuses on the development and research of integrated urban transport concepts. Hereby we do empirical research and model based impact estimations and work on the improvementof planning and implementation processes of urban mobility. We are involved in various study programs offered at TUM.Within the European Innovation Community “EIT Urban Mobility” we are developing up-to-date Innovation Projects in shaping the mobility of the future –together with multiple partners from private business, public authorities, research institutions and academia: see www.eiturbanmobility.eu.

Currently we are looking for support in our team for the following Innovation Projects:

a) CLEAR –City Liveability by Re-Design: Together with partners from Amsterdam, Milano and Munich we are designing, assessing and promoting “transition experiments” for more liveable urban streets with less (parked) cars and more diverse urban functions / mobility services.

b) MOBY –living labs on electric micro-mobility, such as e-scooters: based on case-studies in Munich and in a European consortium, we are going to evaluate the impacts on accessibility and develop recommendations for a successful implementationframework.

c) PRO MaaS–promotion of Mobility-as-a-Service: Based on the international state-of-the-art we are going to develop a framework, test local implementation and generate guidelines for the governance of private and public stakeholdersin times of profound market transformation.

The ideal candidate has an above average, scientific university degree with a focus in the field of urban mobility and first professional experience. You are willing to adapt quickly to new challenges and learn independently on new topics. With appropriate suitability and commitment,we support you in developing a more long-term perspective, including teaching responsibilities and a doctoral dissertation project.We expect your willingness to cooperate in related activities in our international and interdisciplinary team.
